Starting off on Upwork isn’t easy. You’re up against Top Rated, Top Rated Plus, and Rising Talent freelancers, as well as freelancers without a badge. In other words, you’re competing against the entire number of eligible freelancers on Upwork.

Becoming a Rising Talent on Upwork is the right path to credibility. It increases the chances of bidding on a proposal for new freelance work since Upwork’s Rising Talent Badge boosts your profile. Rising Talent freelancers are those who are most eligible for landing a job.

To earn the Rising Talent Badge on Upwork, you must meet specific requirements. Furthermore, we will explain what you must accomplish in order to qualify for the Rising Talent Badge.

1. Pass the Upwork Readiness Test

Even if you are a newcomer, passing the Upwork Readiness Test is quite simple, since it’s made up of ten questions. It explains how top freelancers apply best practices and safety precautions to develop successful Upwork businesses

Before you begin with the test, we recommend that you focus on the following topics:

  • Which modes of communication to employ and which to avoid?
  • Understand the components of the Job Success Score and the manner of computing them
  • Client’s dissatisfaction aspects
  • How does Upwork’s payment protection work?
  • Which elements to include in your profile to complete it

2. Complete your project on time

Upwork expresses a great deal of concern about deadlines and punctuality. Project management is centered on deadlines. All of it goes toward determining whether or not your project is on track.

However, working on Upwork can be done in the following two ways:

  • On Hourly Basis – Each time you’re active on Upwork, you must log your hours
  • On Fixed Price Basis – Your project is divided into milestones, each of which is due at a certain time.

Your project milestones should not be delivered late, for you will not be granted the Rising Talent Badge if you deliver outside of the timeframes. To avoid problems like this, you should not offer to your clients something you can’t deliver.

3. Complete Your Profile 100%

If you’re new to Upwork, making your profile flawless should be your number one priority. This can help you gain more credibility and raise your chances of landing new jobs or projects.

The following features must be included in your profile in order for it to be 100% perfect:

  • Profile picture – Group images are not permitted. A single-person photo is required.
  • Profile description – It should be brief and to the point. It will have a significant impact on your clients.
  • Previous work experience – Listing your previous work experience delivers a direct impact on your ability to obtain jobs. A Rising Talent Badge is given to freelancers who have received the most positive feedback on their work.
  • Master skills – Add your master skills and make your account more enticing to clients.

With these, you’ll be able to complete 60% of your profile. Add education, credentials, and portfolio items to fill out the remaining 40%.

4. Keep Your Availability Up-to-date

Your availability status is a good sign for clients to know whether they’re looking for part-time or full-time job offers.

On Upwork, there are three ways to secure your availability:

  • As needed, open to offers– Use this when you’re already booked with contracts and jobs. It indicates that the project might pique your interest.
  • Less than 30 hours per week – Use this option when you are busy with a few jobs. It indicates that you are enthusiastic about the impending jobs.
  • More than 30 hours per week – Use this when you are open to any work. It indicates that you are available every day of the week.

The good thing is that you could alter your availability status at any time.

5. Submit a Proposal on Relevant Jobs

You should pitch gigs that are a good fit for your abilities. Submitting a proposal for gigs for which you lack the necessary skills is a waste of time. It will harm your reputation and cause you to lose jobs on Upwork.

Always strive to avoid bids for projects that require your partially mastered or unattained skills. Try to bid on projects that require a combination of your skills. Always do what you are good at

6. Follow Upwork’s Terms of Service

Upwork’s Terms of Service must be followed, in order to win the Rising Talent Badge. The Terms of Service on Upwork are real standards that govern what is and what is not acceptable.

Here is a list of everything never to do on Upwork:

  • Don’t share your Upwork profile with anyone else
  • Don’t exaggerate your abilities or accept responsibilities that you can’t fulfill
  • Always keep your customer and freelance profiles separate
  • Receiving payments outside of Upwork is forbidden

7. Be Active within 90 Days or Joined in the past 30 days

To be eligible for the Rising Talent Badge, your account must have been active during the last 30 days or for the past 90 days. To accomplish this, you must submit your proposals on a regular basis and land jobs.

Benefits of Being a Rising Talent

When you’re new to Upwork, the Rising Talent Badge, like all other badges, is a way to demonstrate your ability.

Some of the advantages of having the Rising Talent badge are the following:

  • Upwork’s Rising Talent badge comes with 30 or more connections. It increases your bid capacity, and it makes the most of your Upwork chat and ticket support.
  • It lowers Upwork’s deduction fee from 20% to 10%.
  • Upwork clients will be drawn to view your profile and proposals when you’re a Rising Talent Badge owner.
  • Your chances of landing an interview improve when you have this badge.
  • The Rising Talent Badge increases your chances of finding new jobs.
  • It’s a viable option ‘till your employment success score climbs to the top.

You will be eligible to receive the Rising Talent Badge if you complete these specific requirements. Follow Upwork’s Terms and Services, fill in your profile specs, and do all of the aforementioned things and you’ll be good to go.

Don’t forget to do what you are best at!
